Velosio Solves Compliance Integration Challenge with Florida BioTrack for Cannabis Growers

Published

on

Velosio, the leader in ERP solutions for cannabis growers, processors, and distributors, announces the successful integration of its SilverLeaf platform with Florida’s BioTrack compliance system.

DUBLIN, Ohio, Jan. 15, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Cannabis operators in Florida are facing increasing pressure to meet strict compliance deadlines with the state’s BioTrack system, or risk costly penalties. Velosio’s latest innovation with SilverLeaf offers a solution, automating compliance and helping businesses stay ahead of regulatory requirements—just as penalties for non-compliance are soaring.

“SilverLeaf’s integration with BioTrack takes the headache out of compliance for Florida cannabis operators. By automating the integration processes, businesses can stay focused on what really matters without getting caught up in the red tape,” said Marchi-Young.

In January of 2024, Florida announced the mandated use of BioTrack for compliance under Emergency Rule 64ER24-1 requiring all cannabis operators including all of their facilities and retail stores to complete the move by February 2024 with a maximum extension of 6 months. This meant software companies had to complete a full BioTrack system integration and implementation in 6 months. On top of that, they were faced with a complicated hurdle: BioTrack had no front-end interface for end users. Without this interface, businesses are unable to submit data to BioTrack without an integrated system.

The state’s announcement of close to $1,000-per-day fines for non-compliance in 2024 further heightened the urgency for operators to implement an effective solution. “We’re working with a company that was fined, but it was a business decision to hold off on implementing the integration until all teams were properly prepared. Unexpected costs like this prohibit businesses from being able to invest that money back into their business,” said Ben Marchi-Young, Senior Product Owner at Velosio.

Velosio worked with BioTrack developers and current SilverLeaf users to create a solution that worked within the framework of Florida’s unique compliance requirements. Built on the powerful Microsoft Dynamics platform, SilverLeaf leverages the scalability and flexibility of Dynamics 365 to offer a fully integrated system. This enables Florida cannabis operators to automatically submit compliance data from SilverLeaf to BioTrack, ensuring accurate and efficient reporting while minimizing the risk of manual errors. By combining SilverLeaf’s robust ERP capabilities with the seamless integration to BioTrack, cannabis operators now have a reliable, streamlined solution to meet Florida’s stringent compliance standards.

“SilverLeaf’s integration with BioTrack takes the headache out of compliance for Florida cannabis operators. By automating the integration processes, businesses can stay focused on what really matters—scaling their operations and improving efficiency, without getting caught up in the red tape,” said Marchi-Young.

Three Key Features that Benefit Florida Cannabis Operators

Florida cannabis businesses using SilverLeaf now benefit from three key features that streamline the compliance process:

Auto Tag Generation: SilverLeaf automates the replacement of tags with those from BioTrack once tasks are completed. This ensures that operators can continue their work even if BioTrack is temporarily down, preventing workflow disruptions.Inventory Reconciliation: SilverLeaf reconciles state-tracked inventory with BioTrack to ensure that the inventory and plants on record matches what operators have. This real-time syncing reduces discrepancies and ensures accurate compliance.BioTrack Output Quantity: This feature auto populates the cannabis output quantity in manufacturing to submit to BioTrack, but in the background SilverLeaf is not only submitting the cannabis quantity, it is additionally running a second procedure to consume and input additional non-cannabis ingredients from the bill of materials. This is a multi-step process in BioTrack that SilverLeaf has solved in a single step for users.

These features, which operate seamlessly behind the scenes, allow users to focus on their day-to-day operations while remaining confident that they are in full compliance with Florida’s regulatory requirements.

Expanding Beyond Florida: A Solution for Other BioTrack States

The successful integration in Florida also has positive implications for cannabis operators in other states that use BioTrack, including New York, Connecticut, Illinois, New Mexico, and Virginia. In these states, BioTrack offers a front-end interface, making the integration process quicker and easier. For cannabis companies using SilverLeaf, this provides a straightforward path to meet state compliance standards as SilverLeaf continues to integrate in these additional states

SilverLeaf—An Extensible ERP Solution for the Cannabis Industry

SilverLeaf is built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, a leading enterprise-class ERP platform that provides cannabis operators with end-to-end business management capabilities. From cultivation and production to inventory control, distribution and financial management, SilverLeaf with Dynamics 365 empowers businesses to grow and scale while maintaining compliance.

With the backing of Microsoft’s technology stack, SilverLeaf also integrates seamlessly with tools like Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook, as well as Power Apps and Power BI, further enhancing productivity and operational efficiency.
