Now available to all Cosmic Frog users, at no extra cost, Leapfrog enables users to ask questions and give commands in plain language, making it easy for those without SQL expertise to also use the platform
ANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 18, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — The leading supply chain network design software innovator Optilogic today announced a new addition to Cosmic Frog, its pioneering supply chain design solution: Leapfrog AI. Embedded within the Cosmic Frog platform, as a free and intuitive interface, this user-friendly, AI-powered assistant makes it easier than ever for all Cosmic Frog users to ask questions and give commands in plain language—and receive clear explanations.
“Essentially, Leapfrog is democratizing access to our industry-leading supply chain design solution by giving Cosmic Frog users structured query language (SQL) superpowers—without them needing to know anything about that programming language,” said VP Product Management at Optilogic Rebecca Janowiak. “By simply typing plain language prompts into Leapfrog, users can effortlessly perform multidimensional data manipulation and modeling tasks that would normally require SQL coding know-how, or more complex UI workflows. But Leapfrog actually empowers all users, regardless of their SQL experience, to ‘go further, faster’ in various modeling and analysis tasks, by eliminating the need for manual coding and data updates.”
Prior to the introduction of Leapfrog, users without SQL expertise often faced bottlenecks when trying to extract insights or make significant changes to their supply chain models, and were therefore reliant on specialized data teams. Leapfrog changes this equation by upleveling and empowering all Cosmic Frog users, regardless of their SQL coding experience, to quickly analyze and respond to dynamic supply chain conditions. Now, they can quickly perform tasks like viewing and editing data, creating scenarios, and running models by simply entering natural language prompts—across multiple languages. Leapfrog’s language translation capabilities are also a game-changer for users who speak other languages, further democratizing design for everyone.
“Leapfrog saves me time and provides always-on access to a SQL and modeling expert, right within Cosmic Frog,” said 7D Analytics Managing Partner Ricardo Taborda dos Reis. “I can even converse in my first language, Portuguese, which makes data and modeling tasks faster and easier than ever.”
But Leapfrog isn’t only beneficial for those without robust SQL coding expertise. It also makes the Cosmic Frog platform more efficient for SQL specialists. After creating any new scenario, users can simply run it directly from Leapfrog by typing, “run my model,” and then specify the desired engine and resource size. This eliminates the need for coders to manually create scenarios and update data, empowering them to effortlessly and quickly generate and analyze multiple cost scenarios.
In addition, Leapfrog also safeguards users against errors that insufficient SQL syntax can create, since Leapfrog’s SQL generation capabilities ensure all queries are syntactically correct and aligned with the Anura database schema. This minimizes the risk of user errors that could ultimately compromise data integrity, and is especially useful for those less familiar with SQL syntax and best practices. In addition, it frees up data specialists’ time and cognitive resources for higher-level tasks, like strategic planning, problem-solving and collaboration.
“This is particularly valuable in the fast-paced world of supply chain management, where even minor delays in analysis and decision-making can be incredibly costly,” Janowiak said. “Now a user can ask Leapfrog to ‘show me the supply chain impacts, if I increase transportation costs by 10% for all ocean lanes.’ Then Leapfrog will quickly respond with a newly defined scenario, and give users the option to ‘create scenario,’ with the click of a button. This ability to interact directly with data in real-time for a wider user base can significantly improve the company’s overall agility and responsiveness across its supply chain operations.”
Leapfrog is directly integrated into Cosmic Frog and its Anura Database Schema, and was extensively trained to obtain a deep understanding of both. It now enables a seamless interaction with all users’ model data and modeling activities, within the Cosmic Frog environment. Users’ conversations with Leapfrog are saved, so they can also search, access and reuse Leapfrog’s responses at any time.
In addition, users can leverage Leapfrog to further educate themselves through their queries, which is useful for onboarding and continuous learning. For example, one might enter the prompt, “What input tables and fields in the model apply to a greenfield analysis?” and Leapfrog will recognize it as a question and deliver a clear answer. This further empowers those less familiar with specific terminology to quickly get up to speed, without extensive training or reliance on other team members. It also fosters a deeper understanding of model structures, assumptions and outputs, leading to better-informed decisions and collaborations.
“Leapfrog is transformational for supply chain modeling,” said Penske Logistics Engineering Manager Andrew Dilyard. “Using natural language to build what-if scenarios enables modelers to push the bounds of their creativity by streamlining the scenario-generation process. Equally helpful, if you are new to supply chain design or a seasoned expert, Leapfrog is a huge step toward democratizing strategic design.”
Leapfrog is under active development, with new features and capabilities being regularly added to proactively address emerging user needs. For additional information, visit https://optilogic.com/leapfrog-ai/ or http://www.optilogic.com/.
