State Grid Xuzhou Power Supply Company Successfully Completes First Comprehensive UAV Patrol of Distribution Lines

Published

By

XUZHOU,china, Jan. 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Recently, with the successful completion of the UAV patrol on the Xuzhou Tongshan Jiao third line, State Grid Xuzhou Power Supply Company has achieved its first comprehensive UAV patrol of distribution lines. Since last year, the company has implemented a rigorous closed-loop control system for drone operations, encompassing pre-flight planning, real-time flight progress monitoring, post-flight quality verification, and defect elimination. This systematic approach has been applied to 2,126 scheduled flights covering all operational distribution lines, ensuring a thorough “carpet-style” inspection.

The patrol focused on identifying critical issues such as tree-line conflicts, channel obstructions, foreign objects, aged connection points, discharge traces, and structural fractures that could compromise the reliable operation of distribution lines and equipment. A comprehensive quality assurance process was established to verify the accuracy and completeness of patrol data, including work order submissions, data integrity, photo standards, and defect identification. This process ensures optimal UAV patrol outcomes and promotes continuous improvement in patrol quality.

Additionally, the company is developing a UAV patrol defect database to facilitate a closed-loop workflow of “precise patrol + targeted defect elimination.” Defects are categorized based on severity, enabling maintenance personnel to prioritize corrective actions effectively. This initiative enhances the overall reliability of the distribution network.

Looking ahead, State Grid Xuzhou Power Supply Company plans to enhance personnel training and explore innovative patrol modes such as adaptive flying and live detection patrols. These efforts aim to further improve patrol efficiency and quality, supporting the city’s distribution network development.

State Grid Xuzhou Power Supply Company Installs Distributed Optical Fiber Temperature Sensing Early Warning System in Substations

Published

By

XUZHOU, China, Jan. 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Recently, the State Grid Xuzhou Power Supply Company successfully completed the installation of a distributed optical fiber temperature sensing early warning system at the 500kV Renzhuang substation. To date, all five 500kV substations in Xuzhou have been equipped with this advanced early warning system, significantly enhancing the fire prevention capabilities and ensuring the safe and stable operation of the power grid.

During winter, the high electrical load combined with dry weather conditions increases the risk of fires in substations. Areas with dense cable installations are particularly vulnerable to fire hazards. Current fire prevention measures primarily rely on passive methods such as flame-retardant materials and fire barriers. Traditional monitoring tools like infrared thermometers, thermal imagers, and temperature-sensitive cables can only provide localized measurements, leaving gaps in comprehensive fire prevention and early warning capabilities.

To address these challenges, the State Grid Xuzhou Power Supply Company has deployed cutting-edge technology by installing a distributed optical fiber temperature sensing early warning system across its five 500kV substations. This system integrates advanced technologies including optical fiber sensing, data transmission, communication, and photoelectric control. By deploying dual-layer S-type temperature sensing fibers along the inner edges of indoor and outdoor cable trays, the system enables real-time monitoring of temperature and temperature change rates at any point along the cables. It offers high-precision temperature measurement and is immune to electromagnetic interference. Notably, it effectively detects localized heating caused by poor connections between power cables and electrical equipment, especially in cable mezzanines and other critical areas. Additionally, the system can be integrated with centralized fire monitoring platforms via optical fiber communication, enabling real-time monitoring and dynamic early warning of potential cable fires within the substation.

XUZHOU,China, Jan. 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — On January 25, atop the factory buildings of XCMG Group in Jiangsu Province, dark blue photovoltaic panels glistened under the sunlight, generating tangible “green revenue” for the company. These photovoltaic installations not only rejuvenate idle rooftop spaces but also significantly reduce energy costs and enhance the green development initiatives of enterprise transformation.

As an established industrial hub, Xuzhou hosts numerous large enterprises across sectors such as machinery, energy, equipment manufacturing, and chemicals. Guided by the “dual carbon” targets, these enterprises are accelerating their transition towards greener operations. In response, State Grid Xuzhou Power Supply Company has proactively developed a comprehensive energy consumption service system to ensure that new energy projects can be efficiently integrated into the grid with convenience, timeliness, and reliability.

To meet the operational and maintenance management needs of XCMG Group photovoltaic power plants, State Grid Xuzhou Power Supply Company established a dedicated task force to provide full-process support, including explanations on photovoltaic electricity pricing, promotion of grid connection models, and construction of green power plants. Currently, XCMG Group has installed over 3 million square meters of photovoltaic panels on its rooftops, with 18 projects already connected to the grid, generating more than 100 million kWh annually and saving approximately 35,000 tonnes of standard coal.

Meanwhile, Xuzhou Coal Mining Group is expediting the establishment of a new energy industry system. With the robust support of State Grid Xuzhou Power Supply Company, the first phase of Xuzhou Coal Mining Group’s centralized shared energy storage power plant project was successfully connected to the grid ahead of schedule, becoming the largest electrochemical energy storage power plant in Jiangsu Province. This initiative has effectively promoted energy conservation, emission reduction, and sustainable development for the enterprise.
