NJII’s new AI initiative provides AI solutions-as-a-service, following the launch of AI@NJIT. The initiative will be led by NJII AVP Dr. Thomas Villani who is an expert in building real-world artificial intelligence and machine learning applications.
NEWARK, N.J., Sept. 23, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — NJII announced today the new AI initiative focused on solving the adoption challenges for today’s business leader, the NJII AI Lab. This program supports the assessment, identification, design and implementation of AI solutions to meet the needs of small and medium-sized businesses. The AI solutions-as-a-service model leverages subject matter experts within both NJII/NJIT as well as students from NJIT’s Ying Wu College of Computing which is the largest computer science program in the entire tri-state area (NJ, NY, CT).

The initiative will be led by NJII AVP Dr. Thomas Villani who is an expert in building real-world artificial intelligence and machine learning applications. Dr. Villani was previously the Chief Science Officer and Co-Founder of Visikol where he led the development of various cutting-edge image analysis and bioimaging solutions as well as leading research projects for all twenty of the top twenty pharmaceutical companies in the world.
The launch of this new AI Lab is part of NJII’s three-pronged approach to AI which includes collaboration with AI@NJIT, education and upskilling through Learning and Development Initiative, and, company creation through the forthcoming NJII Venture Studio.
