The center auto-receives applications for oversized garbage collection and offers online payment service for garbage disposal fees via LINE

TOKYO, July 8, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — transcosmos and transcosmos online communications are proud to announce that on June 7, 2024, the two companies offered an online payment feature of KANAMETO ECO, an application system for oversized garbage collection powered by LINE, to Kohoku wide area administration business center—an administrative services center of the Kohoku administrative district in Shiga prefecture, helping the center offer citizens an online payment service for oversized garbage collection fees via its official LINE account.

KANAMETO ECO is a new feature added to KANAMETO, a LINE-powered Government Digital Transformation (DX) tool which today is empowering more than 220 local governments. Kohoku wide area administration business center is the first user among all local public partial and wide-area cooperatives in Japan.

Kohoku wide area administration business center is a local public partial cooperative that covers Nagahama and Maibara cities in Shiga prefecture. The center manages garbage and night-soil collection & disposal services as well as crematoriums in the district. On March 24, 2023, the center opened a LINE official account (account name: Kohoku Wide Area Administration Business Center), and implemented KANAMETO ECO on March 15, 2024. With KANAMETO ECO, service users can complete the entire process for disposing oversized garbage from submitting an application, and rescheduling to cancelling the application all on LINE.

Starting June 7, 2024, Nagahama and Maibara citizens who wish to apply for an oversized garbage collection service can use the newly adapted online payment feature of KANAMETO ECO to settle collection fees online within the LINE app. Users can choose a preferred payment channel from credit cards, PayPay and LINE Pay. Previously, users had to purchase garbage disposal tickets to use and pay for the collection service. Now that they have two options for the payment—use the disposal tickets or pay online—the new service boosts user convenience.

On the designated online form, which users can access from the center’s LINE official account, users select the area they live and preferred collection date, as well as type and number of items. There is a limit per booking request for each garbage collection, which is shown on the item selection page, so by default, users cannot proceed to the next step if the number of items exceeds the set limit. The system then automatically calculates the collection service fees based on the type and number of items entered. Users can send the application form to the center after adding detailed information such as contact information, collection site, etc.

The center also has deployed a review & approve feature, with which center staff can review the entered information on the KANAMETO ECO’s admin page to confirm the request. Each user will receive a message once their application is approved or rejected. If a user’s application is rejected, they will receive a cancellation message explaining the reasons for the rejection. Once the application is approved, users will receive a confirmation message and link to the online payment page where they can settle the fees online.

KANAMETO ECO is a new feature added to KANAMETO, a LINE-powered Government Digital Transformation (DX) tool which today is empowering more than 220 local governments. EZ Texting’s 2025 Consumer Survey results reveal consumers embrace SMS marketing like never before, with 86% opting in.

86% of consumers now opt in for business texts, a 20% increase since 2021.79% of consumers are more likely to purchase when subscribed, increasing 21% from 2024.52% of consumers text businesses more often, a 31% increase over 2023.
