David Robey and Tag Greason Appointed Co-CEOs
OVERLAND PARK, Kan., March 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — QTS Data Centers (“QTS”) announced today that Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Chad Williams has decided to step down, effective April 18, 2025, and return to his position as CEO of Quality Group of Companies (QGC), a diversified real estate and business services family office investment company from which QTS was originally founded. This decision comes after a successful 20+ year career founding and building QTS into the largest and fastest growing data center company in the world. Current QTS executives, David Robey, Chief Operating Officer and Tag Greason, Chief Growth Officer, have been appointed Co-CEOs to lead the company through its next phase of growth and innovation.
Mr. Williams said: “We entered 2025 celebrating our twentieth-year anniversary since Jeannie and I founded QTS, and it has been the honor of a lifetime to serve with and be part of the QTS family. From the very beginning, God blessed us with amazing people that came around a common set of core values that serve a purpose higher than self. We’ve been blessed to build the largest data center infrastructure company in the world, powered by people that are mission-minded and purpose-driven. In 2021, we had a unique opportunity to partner with Blackstone, the largest alternative asset manager in the world, and embark on an unprecedented journey of growth together. I want to thank all of our QTS family and Blackstone partners, our customers, equipment vendors and power partners for allowing me to be part of this opportunity. As I step away from this chapter in my life, I know I leave our 1,600+ QTSers in capable hands with David and Tag to continue to provide important support to our local communities and deliver world-class services to our amazing partners who entrust us with their most important infrastructure globally.”
Stephen A. Schwarzman, Chairman, CEO and Co-Founder of Blackstone, said: “Chad is a generational entrepreneur and represents one of the most incredible success stories we have had the opportunity to partner with at Blackstone. I am grateful for his immense contributions to QTS and Blackstone and wish him well in the next stages of his career.”
Jon Gray, President and Chief Operating Officer of Blackstone, said: “Chad has been a true pioneer in the data center space, starting QTS from scratch and building it into a $60 billion global industry leader. We believe this will be one of the most successful investments in Blackstone’s history and are tremendously thankful for Chad’s entrepreneurship, unwavering dedication and leadership. He will be greatly missed. At the same time, we couldn’t be more excited about the company’s future with one of the largest data center pipelines in the world and exceptional development capabilities.”
David Robey and Tag Greason bring a combined nearly 30 years of QTS experience and industry excellence. Mr. Robey’s expertise in designing, developing and operating mission critical infrastructure and Mr. Greason’s experience partnering with the largest technology companies in the world make them uniquely qualified to lead QTS in its next stage of growth.
Sean Klimczak, Global Head of Blackstone Infrastructure, and Nadeem Meghji, Global Co-Head of Blackstone Real Estate, said: “We are thrilled to have two seasoned executives, who are industry leaders and have been an integral part of the QTS growth story for over a decade, lead QTS in its next phase. QTS’s world-class team of 1,600+ team members is well-positioned to capitalize on the market demand given its significant pipeline, strong customer relationships and over 20-year track record of delivering digital infrastructure to the largest technology companies in the world. We look forward to continuing our momentum with Tag and David and the rest of the QTS team.”
Mr. Robey and Mr. Greason said: “We could not be more excited to step into these new roles and lead QTS forward with the support of our exceptional team and our partners at Blackstone. For 15 years, we have had the privilege of working with Chad, who has been an amazing leader for our team, achieving remarkable scale and positioning QTS for continued success. We look forward to doubling down on QTS’s promise to build the critical infrastructure powering the digitalization of the world.”
